Removal of diseased synovial membrane (inner lining of the joint) if there is a tendency to effusion, rheumatism or osteoarthritis

In the case of specific rheumatic inflammation of the synovial membrane, which does not respond adequately to drug treatment, it may be necessary to remove the entire synovial membrane via 4-6 arthroscopic approaches (synovialectomy / synovectomy). Postoperatively, the operated leg must be relieved for 6 weeks until a new synovial membrane has formed.
