Dupuytren's contracture leads to a scarred thickening of the palm with increasing retraction of the fingers.
Partly painless, partly painful scarred retraction of the palm fascia and fingers.
One third is genetic, another third is alcohol-related and another third has no known cause.
In advanced stages with significant retraction of the fingers, surgical partial removal of the palm fascia is indicated. In selected cases, a chymopapain injection with "breaking up" of the contractures may also be indicated.
