We distinguish between radial epicondylitis (tennis elbow or computer mouse arm) and ulnar epicondylitis (golfer's elbow).
Pain at the tendon insertions on the elbow during exertion, sometimes also at rest.
These are tendon irritations of the wrist extensors (tennis elbow) or the wrist flexors (golfer's elbow). The cause in each case is therefore an overload or chain of tension in the corresponding muscles.
Try to eliminate the cause by taking measures such as using an ergonomic computer mouse, a lighter and better cushioned tennis racket or improving your golf swing technique. This must always be done in combination with exercises of the corresponding muscles. For more severe pain, infiltration of the tendons with cortisone or PRP and/or shock wave therapy (ESWT). Only in cases of persistent resistance to therapy is surgical notching of the tendon insertions with denervation (epicondylitis surgery) performed as a minor, but usually very rewarding operation.
