Acute frozen shoulder is an inflammation of the synovial membrane. It often occurs with a delay on both sides.

The cause is still not clear.
This "adhesive capsulitis" is usually treated conservatively. If treatment is resistant, the joint is mobilized arthroscopically with simultaneous arthroscopic removal of the inflamed joint mucosa. Intensive physiotherapy exercises are required immediately after the operation.
