Chronic overuse and inflammation can lead to calcification of the shoulder tendons (tendinosis calcarea).
Partly dull permanent pain in the shoulder, partly severe pain at night and during movement.
Calcium deposits usually occur spontaneously due to the deposition of inflammatory crystals. In many cases, the cause is chronic impingement and, remarkably often, regular work with the arms at head height (hairdresser/dentist etc.). Only in rare cases is a metabolic disorder detected.
In acute cases, infiltration treatment with cortisone or PRP, anti-inflammatory medication, ice treatment and physical therapy. In chronic cases, combination with physiotherapy, microcurrent therapy(Luxxamed). In cases of resistance to therapy and corresponding symptoms, the complaints can be treated very reliably and permanently by means of arthroscopic calcium removal.
