Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is caused by a constriction of the median nerve.
Numbness of the first 3 fingers of the affected hand. Findings often intensified when bending the wrist (cycling).
Often no known cause. Old wrist fractures and rheumatic diseases often lead to carpal tunnel syndrome.
Neurological examination. Wrist orthosis for mild findings, surgical splitting of the carpal roof for severe findings.
