Rotator cuff rupture

A rotator cuff tear is a rupture of the tendons in the shoulder joint.

Symptoms

Weakness when lifting the arm to the side, painful restriction of movement in the affected shoulder joint.

Causes

Tendon ruptures are usually caused by wear and tear and rarely exclusively by accidents. The cause of wear is usually impingement with pressure on the tendons.

Therapy

A continuous tear of the rotator cuff is a serious mechanical problem that can only be cured by surgically suturing the tendons. We have been performing all tendon sutures exclusively arthroscopically since 2006. Arthroscopic suturing of the rotator cuff is much gentler and safer for the patient.
